Google Ads for forex brokers: verification, policy and performance

Search is still one of the highest-intent channels for brokers: people typing "best forex broker" or "trade gold online" are actively looking. But Google treats financial services, and complex speculative products like CFDs, as restricted categories. Getting set up correctly is the first competitive advantage.

Verification and certification

In many countries, Google requires advertisers promoting financial services to complete financial services verification, and there are additional requirements for complex speculative financial products. Requirements differ by country and change over time, so check Google's current policy for each market you target and keep your licence documentation ready. Ads from unverified advertisers simply won't serve.

Structure campaigns around intent

  • Brand: protect your own brand terms; competitors and affiliates will bid on them.
  • Product: "gold trading platform", "MT5 broker", "ECN account".
  • Comparison: "best forex broker [country]" — high intent, high competition.
  • Education: "how to trade forex" — cheaper, earlier in the journey, best paired with remarketing.

Ad copy that passes and performs

Avoid profit promises, "risk-free" language and exaggerated claims. Lead with genuine differentiators — regulation, spreads, platforms, execution, support — and include required risk warnings on landing pages. Compliant copy isn't weaker copy; specificity converts.

The ad that states your licence and your spreads beats the ad that promises profit — and it keeps running.

Measure deposits, not clicks

Import offline conversions from your CRM so Google optimises toward first-time deposits, not form fills. Without this, smart bidding will happily buy you cheap sign-ups that never fund.

The takeaway

Google Ads works for brokers that do the groundwork: correct verification, intent-based structure, specific and compliant copy, and conversion tracking tied to real deposits.
